The cadets take part in “green” training which includes military based skills training, which develops confidence, leadership and teamwork in a field environment.
Field Craft Training allows cadets to develop their personal skills and knowledge in a wide range of activities which relate directly to working and living in a field environment. In addition, it offers a wide range of opportunities for leadership at all levels. It covers activities like shelter construction, webbing usage, navigation and personal administration skills, all things which are required when living and working out in the field.
Cadet Leadership Courses
Cadet leadership courses are week long courses run by either the RAF or the Army. The Army run leadership courses involve applying fieldcraft and leadership skills together with weapon handling and blank firing exercises. These courses are available for cadets between 16-18.
Junior Leaders is the most comprehensive course available to cadets in the UK. It is a year long course of weekends and test weeks consisting of military field skills to develop leadership in cadets. Completion results in an Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) certificate.
